WLax: University of Findlay Signs Six Lacrosse Recruits for 2017

Findlay, OH – On Thursday, Dec. 10, University of Findlay announced the signing of seven players, one of whom will play for the Oilers this spring.

Veronica Lehitnen (Defense) – Lehitnen comes to Findlay from Espoo, Finland, where she attended Tapiola High School and played club lacrosse for Helsinki’s Lacrosse Club, which won a pair of Finnish Championships with Lehitnen as a member (2013, 2015). She was also a member of the U19 Finland National Team in the 2015 U19 World Lacrosse Championships held in Edinburgh, Scotland. Lehitnen will begin her time with the Oilers in the spring of 2016 and will major in exercise science.

Fiona D’Ambrosia (Defense) – D’Ambrosia hails from Northampton, Md. Where she attends Northampton High School. She played her club lacrosse with the Legacy Lacrosse Club. She will be joining the Oilers in the fall of 2016 and will major in sports and event management.

Jessica Watt (Midfield) – Watt is a native of Murrysville, Pa. where she attends Franklin Regional High School. She played her club lacrosse with True Lacrosse Pittsburgh. She earned True Lacrosse’s Most Valuable Player award in 2015 and also the team’s leadership award. She will begin play for Findlay in the fall of 2016 and will major in biology.

Michaela Jacks (Defense) – Jacks comes to Findlay from Peabody, Mass. where she attends Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. She plays her club lacrosse with Revolution New England lacrosse club where she was a team captain. Jacks will attend Findlay in the fall of 2016 and will major in pre-vet.

Ciara Burud (Midfield) – Burud hails from Red Hook, N.Y. where she attends Red Hook Central High School. While playing for Red Hook, Burud was named all-American and academic all-American by US Lacrosse and was a New York High School scholar athlete. Her club lacrosse was played with Metro Magic Larosse. She will join the Oilers in the fall of 2016 and will major in sport management.

Francesca Palandrani (Defense) – Palandrini is a native of Glen Mills, Pa. and attends Bayard Rustin High School. She plays her club lacrosse with the Brandywine Majors Lacrosse Club of Delaware County, Pa. She will begin her time with the Oilers in the fall of 2016 and will major in athletic training.

Brittany Stephens (Defense) – Stephens comes to Findlay from Owen Sound, Ontario (CA) where she attends West Hill Secondary School and is a team captain. She plays her club lacrosse with the Edge Elite Lacrosse Club. Stephens will join the Oilers in the fall of 2016 and will major in either secondary education or physical therapy.
