WLax: Liberty Signs Seven in 2017-2018 Lacrosse Recruiting Class
Claire Bratchie (D – Clarksville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel HS)
Claire Bratchie has competed for Our Lady of Good Counsel High School for the past three years and enters her final campaign before joining Liberty. Bratchie is a defender who has been on the varsity squad for three years.
From an athletic family, her dad, Ken, played Division II baseball and football at East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania, and her brother, Stephen, played Division III lacrosse at Christopher Newport in Newport News, Va.
Bratchie is active in her community, working as a volunteer at the Brooke Grove Retirement Home, as well as with Share Foods Network, Grassroots and Special Olympics.
Emily Browne (A/D – Naples, Fla./Barron Collier HS)
Emily Browne, the younger sister of former Liberty lacrosse player Anna Browne, enters her senior season at Barron Collier High School. In her past two seasons for the Cougars, Browne has scored 127 goals, to go along with 76 assists, 137 draw controls, 127 ground balls and 65 caused turnovers. As a junior, Browne was awarded her team’s MVP honor.
In her three years at Barron Collier, she is a three-time district champion who has been named to the all-area team and All-Collier County conference teams in each season. Her high school team also qualified for the state final four on two occasions. As a sophomore, the Naples, Florida, native was named to the Gulf Coast Chapter National Team.
Browne is a three-sport athlete at Barron Collier, competing in lacrosse, basketball (two-time state runner-up) and swimming and diving. At the end of her senior year, she will have 12 varsity letters.
Browne is also very active in her community. She has served as her Fellowship of Christian Athletes treasurer, a youth ministry leader (Marantha Bible and Missionary Conference), a US Youth Lacrosse Certified Referee, a volunteer worker at Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue and worked over 225 hours of community service.
Brooke Bryan (M – Westlake, Calif./Oaks Christian HS)
Brooke Bryan has captained the Oaks Christian High School lacrosse team for the past four seasons while also captaining the water polo team as a junior. Bryan was named first team all-league and all-county each of her sophomore and junior seasons while scoring the most goals and earning the most draw controls in the league.
Academically, the Westlake, Calif., native, has been on the Headmasters List all four years for maintaining a GPA between 3.75 and 4.0. Browne was the athletic prefect at her school as a junior and now serves as the executive prefect at Oaks Christian. She earned the Lions Scholar Award in each of her four years of high school.
Bryan is very active in her school and community as well. She has been involved in the following: president of TEDx Oaks Christian, president on ministry leadership, Skip1.org ambassador, Ascencia homeless shelter, Castle Hill old folks home, leader of high school Bible study, Lost Canyon middle school camp and mock trial third place witness in county.
Gracie Douglas (M – Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman HS)
Gracie Douglas has competed at Douglas S. Freeman High School in Richmond, Va., for the past three seasons and enters her senior season this upcoming spring. Douglas played JV lacrosse as an eighth grader at Douglas S. Freeman High School. As a freshman, she competed on the varsity squad, compiling totals of 29 goals (third-most on team), 11 assists and 22 ground balls. Douglas earned all-conference honorable mention and all-conference all-academic honors, while her team was the Conference 11 district champion.
